![]() ![]() “We have said we weren’t really interested in, like, going back and writing another one,” the Wonder Woman 1984 star said on SiriusXM’s Town Hall. The movie took home the trophy for Best Comedy at the 2012 Critics’ Choice Awards and was also nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes that year.įans would love to see the powerhouse group of actresses reunite for another zany installment, but Wiig admitted in February 2021 that she’s ready to put her Bridesmaids days behind her. Melissa McCarthy was nominated for best supporting actress at the 2012 Academy Awards, which also saw Wiig and cowriter Annie Mumolo up for Original Screenplay. The female-led comedy wasn’t just a hit with audiences. Down on her luck, Annie’s friend Lillian (Rudolph) gives her the chance to be maid of honor at her upcoming wedding - but close pal Helen (Byrne) one-ups Annie at every turn. Wiig stars as Annie Walker, a newly single bakery owner who was forced to shut down her store during a recession. Bridesmaids is one of producer Judd Apatow‘s highest-grossing movies to date, eventually making more than $288 million worldwide. When it made its way to theaters around the country the following month, it became an instant hit, raking in $26 million in its first weekend. The Paul Feig-directed flick had its California premiere on April 28, 2011. Instant classic, cant wait to see it again.Ready to paaarrrrty! Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph and more have gone down in comedy history all thanks to their unforgettable performances in Bridesmaids. Seriously, i saw it a few days ago at an advanced screening, and haven't been able to stop talking about it. What was really great about this movie, which is a large part of any comedy movie being successful, Bridesmaids is infinitely quotable!! (supposed to be all caps, but IMDb told me i couldn't shout hahah but i love shouting!!!!). It's as if the jokes were tailored to her comedic style, which is probably due to her involvement in the writing process. From beginning to end i couldn't stop laughing, the cast was perfect, especially Kristen Wiig. Anyway, once the trailer started and i saw that the brilliance of Apatow and Feig were collaborating, i had to see it. It was a bit on the rom-com side, but most comedies are. I'd like to make it clear right now, just because a movie has a female cast, that doesn't automatically make it a chick flick (not bashing that sub genre, just clarifying). ![]() The title 'Bridesmaids' was a little misleading at first, me and probably everyone else who only heard the title was instantly thinking 'chick flick'. However, Jon's reaction doesn't tell whether he likes it or not. She sticks a slice of ham on his chest and eats them.
